16th FAIRWAY TEE UP – CLOSELY MOWN AREAS

A ball lying on the closely mown areas of the 16th Fairway, including the newly grassed area at the corner of the 16th fairway must be teed up.

Note: The position of the ball must be marked before it is lifted – see Rule 20-1.

PREFERRED LIES - CLOSELY MOWN AREAS THROUGH THE GREEN
A ball lying on a closely mown area through the green may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, he must place it on a spot within a scorecard of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a hazard and not on a putting green.

If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it or moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, he incurs a penalty of one stroke.

Note: "Closely mown area" means any area of the course, including paths through the rough, cut to fairway height or less.

BARE AREAS ON CLOSELY MOWN AREAS GUR

Bare areas on closely mown surface are to be treated as Ground Under Repair (G.U.R) and relief may be taken under Rule 25-1b(i) by lifting and dropping the ball within one club length of the nearest point that is not nearer the hole.

The areas have been marked with white stakes and notices advising G.U.R Play Prohibited.  Balls MUST be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole or taken to Drop Zone/s if provided.

TRENCHES/ OTHER NEW WORKS

Any filled trenches or new works on the course are to be treated as G.U.R. – including the area to the left of the 16th fairway. Balls can be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole or taken to Drop Zone/s if provided.

RELIEF FROM BUNKERS – CASUAL WATER

In the event of bunkers being damaged by rain and/or washout conditions, a bunker can be deemed to be Ground Under Repair.
